Who is Matthew White?
Matthew AKA Matt WhiteAfter his mother’s death, he was born in 1982. Liz WhiteVisited Dr. Donald Cline, a well-known local fertility specialist Zionsville. LizAfter trying for two and a quarter years to conceive, her husband and she decided to seek out help. Dr. ClineRecommendation from their previous doctor. AccordingShe visited him five times a month from the time she met him. October1981 to February 1982. SheShe would visit the clinic three times a month for her ovulation days. She was also inseminated fifteen times during that time.
Dr. ClineUse fresh sperm samples, and assure LizHe would look for a medical resident who is similar to her husband and use him as a donor. When Matt was born, she and her husband were elated to finally have their son and chose a name for him that meant “a gift of God,” to express their gratitude. ButAt the age 14 MattHe discovered that his parents were of different blood types, and he asked them about it. TheyIt was revealed that he was a donation baby and that Dr. ClineHe had helped them.
MoreoverWhen? MattAnd Liz once drove past Dr. Cline’s clinic, she proudly told him that it was where she conceived him. HenceIt was a pleasant experience for them and they were grateful to the doctor for his help. ButAll this was drastically different in September2016. Angela GanoteFox59’s news reporter, Jeremy, broke the news. Dr. ClineHe was charged with two counts each of felony obstruction. TheReports further revealed that he had artificially inseminate 50 patients using his own sperm.
MortifiedAfter reading the news, MattHe took a DNA test, and his worst fear was confirmed: his biological father was Dr. Cline indeed. He then searched for the doctor’s younger photos and found that he bore a high facial resemblance to him. NotJust that. LizHer best friend and her were also horrified to discover what might have happened to them when they visited thirty-five years earlier. Dr. ClineHe was trusted with their fertility issues.
InAn April 2019 interview, LizShe shared that while she was lying in a medical gown, and waiting for him to enter the examination room to examine her, he used go next door to collect the sperm sample. SheThe theory is that he may have masturbated before using his ejaculation on her to inseminate him, without her consent. Liz painfully added, “I feel like I was raped 15 times…A man’s mind following ejaculation—there’s a lot of dopamine, a lot of serotonin, and norepinephrine. All of those are mood enhancers that bring about wonderful feelings for them…We came in for a medical procedure.”
Matt was shattered seeing his mother’sYou can find more information atgony and was unable to comprehend the reasons behind Dr. Cline’s actions, as it blurred the lines between sexual assault and medical conduct. In a May 2019 interview, Matt stated, “It was just all planned, calculated, and executed flawlessly until technology caught up to him…Why he did it, I don’t know, but I think it’s disgusting. HeI had to enter, prepare the patient, get out of the room and do my business. Then, I had to put it in a syringe and go back in. That isThis is not a procedure for medical purposes. That is definitely sexual in nature.”
After MattHe first learned about his biological father by contacting Jacoba BallardHis half-sibling was one of those who first discovered the truth. Dr. Cline. TheyThey instantly clicked and began to work together towards justice for their mothers and all others like them. HoweverIt did cause a lifelong fear. MattHe was concerned about running into his half-sibling everywhere he went.
In December 2017, Dr. ClineAlthough he pleaded guilty, he was only asked for a $500 fine and his one year sentence was suspended. FurthermoreDue to the absence of legislation, no charges of battery or rape were filed against him IndianaConcerning sperm donor fraud
Where is Matthew White Now?
Matthew WhiteHis half-siblings and he attended the court hearing, but were disappointed to see. Dr. ClineThey let them walk free and decided to amend the laws. MattI began to work on a legislative application and kept track of all new donors who reported. Dr. ClineAs their father. AsThe number of people was increasing quickly, so he had to make constant changes and keep the document current.
Finally, MattAnd his half-siblings’ efforts paid off when in 2018, legislation was passed in Indiana, making illicit donor inseminations illegal. He and JacobaThey have been in touch regularly and he shared his infertility issues with her. AsAs far as we know, MattWorks as a biologist, and appears to reside in IndianapolisWith his wife, and their two children. InHe continues to work towards better legal provisions for others.
